The grainy sepia tone of the mysterious intro make you feel like you're putting on some old VHS with unknown origin. The story only becomes more profound by the second, while the editing makes you feel fully immeresed like you're actively walking through the hotel wondering wtf is going on. Pound for pound this was so killer for only 88 mins.
Also a great date night movie for those scared of spiders 🕷
Anyone who enjoys dark horror comedy, true crime satire and everything in between is missing out by not giving this a shot. Kathleen Turner as a deviant killer sitcom mom had me rolling the entire time and I couldn't stop imagining Jessica Rabbit which made it more great. She goes to bed reading a serial killer book disguided as a birdwatching book while stroking Charles Manson's face, and then proceeds to power bottom Sam Waterston in the most awkward hilarious…
I love this movie because it is still up there with Suspiria, Tenebre, and most of Argento's gory surreal slashers. Except this one has a plot about Bee Whispering and totally justifies all of the crazy horror movie ideas I had as a kid like evil time travelling cowboys and space ants swarming the sky. Had a great time and as always loved the metal soundtrack.
