While a little slow to get started this movie ended up being the perfect ending to a mostly great story. With awesomely shot action set pieces and great fights (especially from IP Man himself Donnie Yen) the film keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is also great to see how much progress Keanu Reeves had made from the first film when it comes to the training regiment he developed as his hand to hand combat looks the best in this film.
The quintessential 80's Hong Kong action movie with the perfect mix of three stooges style of humor, badass choreographed fight scenes, on-the-edge-of-your-seat stunt work, and overly evil villains that does not waste a single minute of your time. It is an exhilarating journey that takes you from crazy set piece to crazy set piece with a legendary chemistry shared between Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
An almost unwatchable film in both story and dead slow pacing with the only saving grace being the cool 1 v. 1 fight between Jackie and Bill Wallace, but that is not nearly worth watching almost an hour and a half to get to that point.
I came in expecting awesome acrobatic fights, but what I got out was a bloated horrible mess that switches from dead slow pacing full of unfunny jokes to lightning speed pacing where random concepts are added out of nowhere so the main character can still live in fights that are boring and uncreative.
