I could have read the court transcripts and had an identical experience.
Unfortunately, the cinematic instinct to search for hidden, subjective meaning is entirely lost on this film. Adamantly depthless, Anatomy of a Fall is too tethered to reality to do anything interesting. This was an anti-drama. It might have been more interesting if there were a discernible perspective, or if it had taken a more depose-esque pseudo-documentary framing.
