A Bridge Too Far 1977
Eu adoro tanto este filme, por várias razões.
1) Está todo no YouTube
2) Conseguiu capturar um sentimento que era partilhado pelos americanos no que tocava à atitude dos oficiais britânicos: parecia que todos os oficiais do Exército britânico estavam a participar numa performance de "ser britânico de alta classe" (sarcasmo à old etonian, pragmatismo e estoicismo por vezes cómico).
3) As narrativas que constituem a Operação Market Garden interagem lindamente: a história individual dos comandantes e do plano, o avanço dos Guardas Irlandeses e a Batalha de Arnhem.
4) O diálogo é perfeito.
5) O filme parece durar 9 horas.

La Chimera 2023
La Chimera is paradoxically a very well-rounded flick when one takes into consideration the amount of "loose ends" the narrative leaves behind. Nonetheless, there were many gorgeous moments throughout its screening where an abrupt ending would have been masterful. Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown 1988
I had the pleasure of watching this in an auditorium (im Spanish, thank God), which I believe improved the experience.
It is my second Almodóvar movie and I must say I had never seen colors applied to storytelling like this. A very captivating movie just on the visual aspect.
But the dialogue.... THE DIALOGUE! THE DIALOGUE IS EVERYTHING.

It is the definitive filmwork on Hitler. Even if only pertaining to the the fortnight between the encirclement of Berlin and the fall of Nazi Germany. Bruno Gantz's performance is one for posterity, one that will not be matched by any other in the future, both because of the superb capture of these final days of dantesque tragedy of the Reich and the fact that any lesser performance would be offensive to the memory of the millions killed and to our own collective imaginary.
