I'm not really sure what to think. I have so many words to describe it. Weird (first and foremost), interesting, sad, pretty, funny, and mildly triggering for a recent hurricane/flood survivor. (Seriously, trigger warning if you are a survivor too 😥)
The relationships between the animals is remarkable and the adventure they (are forced to) take is often chilling and not exactly a fun ride. The effects and editing are very well done though.

Only thing I didn't like was the multiple endings. I kind of get why it had to happen, but it totally messed with the pacing the entire movie had going.
Otherwise, Jeffery Wright is astounding. The plot and premise of this movie is so unique, especially the scenes within a scene. The racism was brutal, the submitting to racist editors was brutal. Sterling Brown's hot gay mess of a character was hilarious. Get those white twinks, boy!

This movie was very well done. Viola was amazing as always but Thuso Mbedu steals the show. She's a phenomenal actress. The story was compelling, the fighting was rad af. The twist was mildly predictable. Some scenes depict SA and are hard to watch.
