Why? This is the question I pondered throughout most of this movie. Why did he include scenes of the actors changing costumes? Why did he use the same 4 actors for most of the roles? Why are the characters talking as if they’re in a book? Why do some scenes include a change in scenery both others are only described using words? But it’s these unconventional and sometimes inexplicable decision’s that Wes Anderson makes that make his movies so fun and interesting to watch.
Need @coledunbar (miss my guy) to decide if this qualifies as a 90 min banger, was boarder-line for me but I’d say so. An animated, Japanese Inception, which was even more ridiculous than it may sound. Way too many dolls and way too many hitler salutes. It was very cool just wish I coulda watched it in English — don’t love reading my movies.
Been on an absolute Studio Ghibli tear recently. Started with Princess Mononoke then Porco Rosso and now this one. Howl’s Moving Castle has been my fav so far but they’re all worth a watch and have great characters, amazing animations, and beautiful soundtracks. Plots and dialogue not always the best but I think they are technically kids movies. Definitely going to continue this streak probably Spirited Away next.
Great cast great characters and a great movie. Heath ledger is the man and I just love the hint of crazy behind his eyes at all times. I could watch teenage Joseph Gordon-levitt in an oversized suit get punched in the face over and over and over again. Had to take half a star away cuz they didn’t show Julia styles titties when she flashed the teacher.
