”When I was 16, I had a great victory. I thought I’d live to see a 100. Now I know I shall not live to see 30” (i.e stuck uncing in the goat boat/ land).

The crusades is a massively slept on time period. Edward Norton brought Baldwin to life through sheer dialogue. The usage of the mask adds a certain enigmatic flair to the movie which I was digging. Up the Crusade States.

Very whimsical and colorful. Dialogue lacks personality but its works with the overall detachment from reality of a Wes flick. Almost too weird for my taste but it works. 2 dimensionality complements the vibe of the movie. Mostly engaging. Probably won’t watch again.

Makes you connect with Anders and see the world, laden with temptations, drugs, and a general lack of self-worth, through his eyes. The ambiance is extremely bleak, serving to compliment the sense of constant despair which reveals itself through dialogue. The story isn’t about recovery but of reconciliation with past mistakes. Great full circle ending. Like it and now I feel like Syvert 🇳🇴
