This is one of my favorite stories of all time and this retelling serves as a semi-autobiography of the original one-shot manga author and a mini-homage to the Kyoto Animation arson attack.
This film was adapted in the best way possible from its source material by making emotionally powerful scenes even more touching through its use of dynamic animation and a wonderfully composed soundtrack. The writing is just as great and with how the characters are written, it is very easy to emphasize with their experiences and motivations.
This movie is a great pick for all audiences, and a must watch for all artists.
