A kaleidoscopic neon-soaked American nightmare. Incredible on the IMAX screen tonight.

It’s so perfectly tongue in cheek, but also genuinely captures an incredible dreamlike atmosphere. This film is perhaps the definition of a “you’ll either love or you’ll hate it” movie, but I’m clearly the latter. I vibe with this thing the whole way through. I hadn’t seen it since its initial theatrical run, but it’s aged quite well.

This was one of the DVDs heavily watched in my action movie rotation growing up alongside The Italian Job and Paycheck. I still vividly remember the super cool transparent slipcover and opaque white case. Oooooh, the past.

First time seeing it since I was a teen, it’s a bit more bland character and story-wise than I remembered. But it also has a really strong visual style and the action sequences are a total blast. That tunnel sequence still rocks. Solid time.

    It’s all quite forgettable.

If you're after subtly, take a hike. Subtext is for chumps in this pedal to the metal, blood and pus drenched provocation machine. Coralie Fargeat brings an unbelievably fresh style to her colorful Cronenbergian neo-gothic fable about women's beauty standards in society / Hollywood.

This film has an infectiously manic sense of humor that some might find overwhelming, but I found totally propulsive. There were multiple moments in this film where I found myself involuntarily whispering "wow" under my…
