I wanted more from the film. The beautiful cinematography couldn’t make up for the lack of gothic elements and melancholic tone that i was looking for in the script and characters within it. The excessive jumpscares really took away from a possible attempt at conveying the horror and sin of humanity, seemingly trying to be deeply psychological, but getting muddled in the process of achieving such. 99% of sex scenes felt unnecessary and Dafoe carried the entire film. Definitely disappointed.
i lowkey lost the plot but who cares look at johnny depp’s cheekbones
