After the shock of a first watch you get to luxuriate in how incredible each tension and release is for the plot. Things I thought were thornier like Bokeem Woodbine’s character now just feel tragic and rounded in a more classic way. Love this one more on rewatch. Hate bad therapists. Feel like Kiefer was my old classmates lmao.

Nowhere 1997
Just like his shoegaze soundtracks, Araki moseys through lush hangout scenes with a warm, dreamlike quality. At the same time, under the surface, the water begins to boil over into noisy, chaotic madness, with shocking visual force to match. Then, just as quickly and all at once, it drifts back into a strange and uncertain calm. This LA Weird has never been this fun. Araki films are so jam packed. I can’t wait to watch this again.
