    A twist ending seemingly engineered in a laboratory with the sole purpose of sending me into conniptions of rage.

    Could I have seen it coming? Its black-and-white palette wanted to invoke neorealism but ended up looking like Belfast. This tackiness was compounded by the music choices. There was the out-of-nowhere bombing scene. So yes, there were definitely clues pointing to its badness.

    For the first half, The Batman is basically a beat-for-beat remake of The Dark Knight—grungified supervillains, terroristic home videos, extended car chases and all. Second half they mix it up by ripping off bits of The Dark Knight Rises and Joker instead. There is not a single original idea expressed in the movie's ludicrous three-hour runtime. The film is also very dimly lit in drab browns, probably to hide the nonexistent chemistry between the leads. D–
