  Predators 2010

  Nothing could be as good as the original but this is a solid entry. Lots of satisfying tough guys and girls and copious Predator kills. This is in my top 5 fav opening scenes. 

  Funny thing, Adrien Brody and Mahershala Ali are in this, with four Oscars among them.

  I watched this movie on the regular as a younger person.

  I recently was reading about the making of the film and how Scorsese wanted it to be frenetic, akin to making a two hour trailer. Upon rewatching, I never realized before how true that ethos is. Time passes, characters are introduced or absent with no explanation; however, Scorsese does it in such a way that it’s not jarring or confusing. 

  Similar to a lot of films I watched during that time, upon rewatching, I like them but I don’t love them like I used to.

  Back in the year of our lord 2002 I got my first job out of uni, working “in the field.” The main job was to go to a small town in Quebec on the St. Lawrence River chasing baby seals. 

  Anyway, while there, we stayed in this lighthouse keeper’s cabin. When we weren’t on the water, we were hanging out in the cabin, literally in the middle of nowhere. There was a CD player (I brought a book of CDs)…
