An absolutely stunning piece of work from Director John Ford and cinematographer Gregg Toland. It only gets better as the years pass.
Whether a Christmas movie or not, Die Hard is a gift. Alan Rickman steals the show. For older movie fans, Hans Gruber was the name of a villain in Our Man Flint, a mid-sixties progenitor of Austin Powers.
It is also one of those movies I call ERs Eminently Rewatchable such as Bourne, Bond et al.
There are some films you immediately immerse into and A Complete Unknown is one of them. Superb set and art direction take you back to the early 60s in uber-hip Greenwich Village in New York and the burgeoning folk music scene. This is a much a history as a biopic. I was 10 when this started happening so I recall something of that era and the young Dylan. Chalamet is brilliant in the lead and Ed Norton really nails straight-shooter Pete Seegar. Who knows how much is strictly accurate but the feel and tone of that time certainly is. Immensely likeable.
