The narrative structure of this film is something special. As we transition countless times from Past to Present Day, it reminds me just how short life can be. This sweet tale of a man with a low IQ, presents several different emotions to me. Throughout major points of the film I am stricken with sadness, blinded with happiness, and everything in between. And being from our Nations Capital, this film really spoke to me.

I love the start of this movie: the bike chase, the action sequences, the accidental betrayal, the Adele. Everything about this just screams quality. The inner turmoil in MI6 which M must try to control (and is quite obviously and publicly failing) is masterful for assisting the launch of the plot. Her past is coming back to haunt her, and she can’t do anything about it. Who’s she going to call? Not Bond. He’s dead. Oh wait…

Quantum of Solace starts with a fantastic action sequence. M almost getting killed in the first shock twist of the film was a nice touch and made me feel for the broken connections and trust within MI6.
I enjoyed the big party in the ruins and Field’s clever tactics of distraction. The unfortunate outcome of her dying as an innocent bystander was tragic though. I would have enjoyed a bit more time to flesh out her story.

I feel like the Bond theme is very predictable. Find a guy, get some info, dress up like a badass, chase some mofos, make love to the models etc. Casino Royale is a good mix of everything, while also making it incredibly exciting and UN-predictable. I never expected the Mathis twist, or the Vesper betrayal but having those in the story, my heart breaks for Bond. He can’t trust anyone now and may never again.
