i knew, going into this, that i would cry. I grew up in a pasifika primary in west auckland, have a mum who calls her students "my kids" and competed in The Big Sing, only a couple years after the earthquakes. i let the credits roll (crying) walked out of that theatre (crying) walked to my car (still crying) and sat there, snotty and dehydrated.
