It could have been even better if it had felt rawer and less clean. The camera is a bit too much by the books and dubbing the Swiss characters for the German audience was not a good idea.

That said, Leonie Benesch delivers yet another outstanding performance as a character under immense pressure. You can feel the tension mounting with every decision, and there’s virtually nothing she can do to stop it. Incredibly strong and nuanced! The hair and makeup…

I wish the mother’s character had been more nuanced. She clearly had her own struggles to contend with, but we didn’t really get to see much of her redeeming side. That made her stand out in a negative way compared to the other characters.

The acting was excellent for the most part though—particularly the main actor, despite being held back occasionally by some clunky script lines. I also feel the directing should have been more uncompromising in a way. More stillness (camera, editing and dialogue/script), with longer scenes instead of more.

But still an impactful film, thanks largely to the nuanced script and the actors.
