  The Beyond 1981

  This was my second viewing of The Beyond and I gotta say this is probably my favorite Lucio Fulci film. Even with the wonky dubbing it feels like it’s on another level from his other films. I think it being set in Louisiana adds to the atmosphere of this film as well; the old hotel legitimately looks like it could be built on top of one of the gates of hell. I think that the make-up, cinematography, editing, and beautiful score from Frizzi culminate in creating one the of the most fantastical zombie films ever put to celluloid. Top tier italian horror

  There are a lot of things I liked, hell even loved about this movie, but.. this movie has a lot of problems. The biggest being the characters; can they get any more two dimensional? I did really enjoy the stylized kills; they reminded me of Argento's Opera for some reason.
