Superficially a feminist film, Barbie's existential angst upon achieving Kantian self-consciousness of her autonomy (and subsequent disillusionment with the anarchic social conditions of the "real world") reflects a Straussian critique of the sexual revolution for dissolving practical social scripts and generating conflict between the sexes.
