It takes the right recipe to blend fringe science and magic/mysticism in an entertaining and satisfying way. Dial of Destiny didn't quite have the ratios right. There's plenty to recommend this movie, but much of it is at odds with itself.
Pros:
-Some really believable, relatable, compelling, juicy writing and acting.
-A fair amount of eye candy (the first seventy-five seconds is simple, yet damn cool).
-A good dystopian eco-pocalyptic vibe.
Cons:
-Some really unbelievable, "What the hell?", annoying, obtuse writing ("watch me do this completely ludicrous thing to my child in the name of Science/Humankind/TheFuture")
