    This was one of my FAVORITE movies as a high schooler, but looking back on it, I found it a bit sappy and overdone, albeit in a sort of endearing way. I love Julia Roberts, and Hugh Grant is at his best and most type-cast here, but I honestly found myself lacking some of the connection that I think makes other rom-coms so much stronger. The setting and general mood could definitely characterize this as a comfort film, but I think that's probably where its mastery stops.
