  A very depressing but strangely beautiful and intimate experience. At times, it felt like I was watching parts of someone’s life that weren’t meant to be seen. Definitely my favorite Van Sant film. <3

  I watched the two minute introduction of “L’Opéra Mouffe” where Agnès Varda says something I loved and thought was so important - “I was pregnant and I felt the contradiction of expecting a child, and being full of hope and moving about in this world of poor, drunken people without hope, who seemed unhappy.”  It’s hard to believe how relevant this sentiment still is 67 years later. Pregnancy is such a scary and precious thing and it’s amazing that she was able to create something so beautiful and heartfelt while going through that experience.
