This was such a well-done horror film. I loved all the references to other classic horror films. Also the cinematography, sound mixing, and pacing were all mind-blowing...and the fact that they relied on practical effects such as prosthetics made it that much more horrible and gruesome. Definitely the best movie I've seen all year.

Hellraiser 1987
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I watched this blind having no knowledge whatsoever of the Hellraiser franchise. The narrative is confusing and hard to follow. If I hadn’t been sitting next to a Hellraiser buff I would have been lost. Kudos to Hellraiser for one of the most uncomfortable sex scenes I’ve ever had to sit through. It has plenty of gore and guts but silly mistakes like the visible wheels under one of the monsters make it campier than intended. I do love a strong female protagonist in a horror film who doesn’t die at the end.

Night of the Living Dead 1968
This was the movie that got me into horror as a teen. It was so terrifying the first time that it took 15 years for me to watch it again. And then I watched it again the next day. There are new details I discover each time. Truly a master class on film making, as the budget was only about $100,000 and it’s a slow burn thriller as you realize everyone is going to die a horrible death.

Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
This was a perfect film. There was nothing wrong with this film. Lily Gladstone deserves an Oscar and more for her incredibly moving and heartbreaking portrayal of Mollie Kyle Roan-Burkhart-Cobb. I want to own this movie so I can watch it again and again and again. In this rare instance, I liked the film better than the book. It's been a few years since I read the book but the film seems less inclined to make the FBI out to…
