Oh how I wish that the subject matter of this film felt more distant.
A portrait of heartbreak and resilience anchored by an unbelievable performance from Fernanda Torres. I love how this movie makes viewers invested by taking its time to show us family dynamics in the first act, drawing us into their day-to-day life. With a story that could have so easily been sensationalized, we instead experience every emotion alongside this family through small facial expressions and mundane moments. So quiet yet so powerful.
If E***** P**** win the Foreign Language Film Oscar over this, overhaul the entire Academy.
