  the central paradox of the wedding singer is that if anyone else had played the Robbie Hart this would be considered one of the greatest romances of all time. Yet if anyone else had played Robbie Hart but Adam Sandler, this movie wouldn’t have been half as good.
  Sandlers under-appreciated performances as well as the bizarrely redundant 80s setting are what risked the wedding singers real potential for greatness, i think.
