The theme of existence is strong in this one, heart wrenching as it is being revealed. Snow covered hokaiddo that hids all under the white coat, the boy's family's nonchalance of the body. Kafuku's effort of keeping his wife's cheating under wraps. By allowing the young actor to face his own soul, Kafuku was eventually able to do so as well.

It gives somewhat a definite but still ambiguous ending. People see what they want to see out of it, like me believing the writer is innocent and it a touching story, yet my college think the writer is guilty and the child ended up lying to cover for her mother.
