My infinite joy at seeing the Unnatural cast again.
Thoughtful film on the logistics industry.
I started the movie with low expectations as it’s not a subject matter that I care for but the intensity and engagement level of the scenes kept ramping up. Andy Griffith’s unhinged energy at the final scene felt up close and personal, almost grabbing one by the throat.
“But we get wise to them. That’s our strength.”
What a lie. I guess this is the film’s version of a fairy tale ending because people aren’t all that wise as evidenced by real life.
Jackie Chan is a pile of hot steaming crap pretending to be a human in real life but I’ll grudgingly admit that his accolades as an action star onscreen are well-deserved. I can’t name a single action star these days who do their own stunts the way he does.
It’s really nice to watch a film with such jaw dropping scenes with zero detectable CGI involved. Genuinely curious as to how much of the budget went towards balsa wood, sugar glass, and that entire shanty town in the opening scene. 😅
In the claws of light? More like the claws of poverty, pain, and grief.
A never ending stream of bad news ensues as one spirals down into despair about one’s life. The occasional glimpse of kindness from friends and strangers fail to stem Julio’s decline. It’s poignant that the female lead is named Ligaya Paraiso, joyful paradise, as the film is centred around looking for her and… well, I’ll avoid spoilers here. Julio’s final expression was heartbreaking.
