Mulholland Drive 2001
Everytime I watch this film I come away with a different feeling to the last time - inspired, awed, disgusted, confused. The first time I saw it I was so revolted and disturbed I could barely look at the screen and spent 6 months playing its imagery again and again trying to both make sense of it and make peace with it. And I still do it on my 5th rewatch. Though now I feel its tenderness and lust for life that can only be found in its duality and contradictions, both on screen and in its audience. A modern masterpiece.
