Critique first and foremost of the spiritual state of post-enlightenment western society. Sure it satirises a form of ‘toxic’ masculinity. This is a complementary feature of the film rather than fundamental. The cinematography is otherworldly. Restricted by a paradigm that exclusively views the material, our souls hunger for internal resolution, either in existing structures or cohesive movements. True fulfilment is found not in detachment from things, or pursuit of wealth, but the proper ordering of our natural and supernatural faculties.…
