I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the greatest film ever made.

Apocalypse now is art in its purest form. Watching this is literally the most transcendent and out-of-body experience a person can have. Every single time after the movie is over i'm left with a heightened sensation that no other film has ever left me with before.
And it only gets better with every rewatch. I mean the way it encompasses so many different genres…

The zone of interest is a brutal, uncompromising depiction of the nature of evil. Evil as a raw force that co-exists with human nature and no matter how hard we neglect it, its sort of ever-present.

The dread is always there only this time, you don’t see it, you only see glimpses of ashes being thrown as a fertilizer, concentration camp victims walking like slaves from behind the bushes for like 3 seconds, ashes that slowly loom in the water…

Pales in comparison to the original movie, but it’s still a solid movie with a gripping second half.

My main problem with it really is that the element of surprise is eliminated after seeing the original movie and knowing how this particular story unfolds.

Also, the dragging first half (which was also a major flaw in the wages of fear) is more prominent in this because the second half is equally as long as the first half which was not the case in the original movie.
