This is peak cinema in my eyes. Very few movies come even close to both the story and characters. Even though it came out in 1957 (and it shows) it still looks astonishing. This movie does flawlessly what other movies can't today.
It might be too dialogue heavy for some, but it doesn't need a lot of action. This is a very good example of how to do both tell and show. With heavy dialogue scenes but also beautiful scenes where we get told nothing but what's shown on screen.
