I can’t believe this film will be turning twenty years old this summer since I still remember watching for the first time at the theater when I was ten. It’s not my favorite Tim Burton movie but it is in the top five. I will always defend him & this version cause he is one of my favorite directors ever and I will always prefer this over the original. I loved how they add some Wonka backstory in this one and…

Before the Tim Burton version came out, this was a film I rewatched frequently. However as time has passed I enjoy it less and prefer the other one more. Those who say this version is better can disagree with me but respectfully I don’t feel that way and hope people can understand why. This will always be one of my favorite horror films centered around a holiday. The uncut version is the only one I’ll ever watch cause the deaths are very memorable and they shouldn’t have been edited. Wish the footage for one of them wasn’t lost forever but that doesn’t affect how much I love this movie.

I also enjoy that the characters in this slasher are all working adults and how the mines are used in the later part of the film. Anyway I will never get tired of rewatching it and always recommend it to those who enjoy slashers.

The first half of this film wasn’t as good as the second but I’m sure the more I watch it I’ll enjoy the whole movie even more. Most of the kills were super creative & the Cupid mask was very unique.

The twist at the end got me for a minute and I didn’t know who the killer truly was but I had my suspicions throughout thanks to Scream and other slashers. Overall a great first time viewing and I will rewatch it every Valentine’s Day.
