Two reviews I read here sum up perfectly my beef with this film. Gorgeous sets and costumes aside, a movie about death does not need to be dead. To quote @Gerry, “most of this felt rigorously stylistic to the point of being lifeless.” That being said, thank god for Nicholas Hoult.
