  Look, nobody is more disappointed that I didn’t like this movie than I am. I wanted to love it so, so much, it hadn’t crossed my mind that I wouldn’t. But I just didn’t. Adapting a YA book into a children’s movie is already a weird decision but it felt more oversimplified in its story themes and characterizations than that alone would imply, by a lot. I loved the opening scene so much and then there just… wasn’t a time…
