  fuck yeah. so grotesque and gorgeous. lynch’s push-and-pull between light and dark has never been so visceral; this world is vile and strange, yet love is alive, luminous, and traffic-stopping. 

  sheryl lee should have been a huge mega star and i don’t know why she wasn’t. i’m sure it’s partly a pavlovian response to the laura palmer of it all, but her presence here is so warm it immediately brought me to tears. If you are truly wild at heart, you’ll fight for your dreams. is anyone gonna make movies like this ever again???? is anyone capable of it??????

  Delicious, snappy fun. A lot more refreshing than the femme fatale setup and misdirection would have you believe. Much to be said about how tight and economical this is, and how nicely the mystery unfolds without any of the 6 major players feeling shafted or shoe-horned in. I love seeing movies in LA because everyone claps at the end
