Heretic 2024
Making the charming and bumbling Hugh Grant a horror villain was inspired. You almost want to root for him throughout the film. Heretic has a clever premise that hews closer to psychological thriller than horror, but it’s executed well. Might have been served better as a short film, but I didn’t hate living in this world for almost two hours. Also, this is surprisingly funny. It almost feels like a black comedy at times.
