review i wrote for class that i'll throw here cus this film deserves more of an audience
Taboor is a highly experimental film that, despite spotting the inspiration from the works of Lynch, Kiarostami, and even the Italian Neorealist movement, remains entirely unique. The film blends the strange and the ordinary with realist melancholy in such a way that we feel we know director Vahid Vakilifar both personally and as an artist. Vakilifar’s heart undoubtedly resides in independent filmmaking.
