Creton co-wrote the film with three close friends; each wrote a different monologue. The places he shot the film are places where he has worked as a gardener for years  — he has known them for a long time, understands the light precisely. racial politics v french

the comedy is good, quiet. the drama is, too, technically, but somehow it still says the soft parts too loud. beautiful landscape shots, but cinematography felt tonally confused: leaned lush, saturated, but would light some characters, or shots, with an equally high-contrast grayscale that emphasized the darkness in the most obvious things — the murderer, mysterious carvings in the hills.
