I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I'm a native french person myself and god we SUCK at making movies, and especially action/horror movies. But this one... The atmosphere is so heavy it's crazy. Seeing Paris, a city I've grown up in, so empty so suddenly really strikes me, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The scene were evacuated people caused riots also seems realistic, it's disturbing.

I think this is one of my favourite movie. It is of course a staple of the genre so I don't think anything I could say would add to the discourse around it.
All I can say is that it's the first ever horror movie I've ever seen, and it holds a very special place in my heart. It was a special moment my dad and I shared when I was a child. I'm also from Switzerland, from the place where HR Giger lived for a long time, so somehow I feel a connection to this movie ✨

I've never liked Aronofsky's movies but I decided to give it a chance. It's boring and predictable, although the concept is quite good, the execution is disappointing. Characters are very one dimensional unfortunately. Vincent Cassel is cringe AF in this movie (to be fair when is he not cringe?). The only good part of this movie is Nathalie Portman, who is excellent at playing the annoying main character. Also please, PLEASE Darren, go to therapy for your mommy issues.
