Got my wisdom teeth taken out today and figured this would be a nice watch immediately after getting home. It's stuck in a weird limbo where it's kinda bad but also has some super solid moments. I don't think watching this coming immediately off of reading Claremont's X-Men comics was the best idea because man those are so good at times and the writing here is painfully mediocre by comparison. Definitely not as good as I remembered but it's a decent time and hopefully I'll enjoy some of the others more.

Cool story. Feels like it goes on a bit long despite only being 90 minutes, but the end is genuinely pretty great and I enjoyed the performances quite a lot.

Holy shit. These guys did it. They made me give a John Wick movie 5 stars. My jaw was on the floor through the entire last hour and most of my theater erupted into applause at one moment. There was a point where the camera moved to a certain angle and I thought, "No fucking way they're gonna do that shit." And then they DID THAT SHIT. AND THEN THEY DID IT AGAIN. This introduces like seven separate new characters…

Mostly a great time even if I'm a little frustrated with how this completely drops the existentialism of the book in favor of incredibly thinly-veiled political satire (which I didn't have a problem with, just wish we got both!) Fantastic performance(s) from Pattinson and overall about what I expected from an English-language Bong Joon-ho film at this point. Really loved the visuals and set design, thought it could have been a bit shorter, and I think I'll appreciate this a lot more on rewatch.
