I see what the director was going for but didn’t really land for me. The visuals, sound effects, and musical score were impressive. The plot, however, was not. It took elements from other great sci-fi horror movies (The Thing, Alien, Life, Annihilation) but just did it worse. If it leaned more into the horror element it could’ve been great. The “twist” was not at all shocking, and in the end all of the characters aside from Eiza Gonzalez were underdeveloped and forgettable, even Aaron Paul.

Heretic 2024
Very unique movie that provides an interesting commentary on religion and how everyone’s perception of it is different. Hugh Grant is great as always. Not as scary as I would’ve expected but suspenseful nonetheless. The dialogue had many funny lines you would never expect to hear, but if anything it added to the uneasy atmosphere that follows you through the entirety of the film.

Dune: Part Two 2024
Villeneuve does it again. An even better sequel to the already great part 1. Greig Fraser with another cinematography masterclass. Movies like this give me hope that hollywood isn’t entirely full of paycheck stealing private jet losers. Standout performances by Austin Butler and say what you want about Chalamet, but the dude can act. A sequel that can now be compared to classics like the empire strikes back, the two towers, and the dark knight.
