  This was not the movie I was expecting.
  It was sold as a movie that celebrates culture and family. Rather, this movie really left me with mixed feelings (and at some points offended) having raised in China.
  - The film never goes deep into the complexity of culture- but rather stays shallow, and doesn't go beyond its premise. Perhaps it is the limitation of the director's knowledge of Chinese culture.

  What people don't know is how much sacrifice he made to his style, and culture to conform to the western idea of an "asian" movie. 

  Grab any Korean and ask if they understood why "indians" were there- they wouldn't get it. They wouldn't understand the meaning behind it. This wasn't made for Koreans.
