The soundtrack was the best thing about this forgettable film. While Dolly shines as herself (or rather herself as a down-on-her-luck gal looking for a break), accidently walking into a job at a radio station, giving advice, the story she's saddled with brings everything down, and the romance isn't believable.

Loving Leah 2009
A quiet and beautiful Hallmark movie that manages to get the story just right, respecting Jewish customs (no mocking here). A man's final vision of his brother just before the brother passes away leads him on a path of discovery and eventually, love.

The Favourite 2018
This is one multiple Oscar Winner (2019) that I just could not get behind. Part of the soundtrack was distracting, the characters were overall rather unlikable, the overall mood extremely dark and gloomy, and finally there were aspects of the film that did not seem to fit the time period of early 18th century England (the dancing and vulgar language). The ending (the entire film really) proved rather unsatisfying.

Anger Management 2003
My second favorite Adam Sandler vehicle (after 'The Wedding Singer'), I'm not sure if the film would have succeeded without Sandler or Jack Nicholson, who have a surprising buddy-buddy (no pun intended since Nicholson's character is named Buddy) chemistry that works well. Some of the jokes definitely land better than others, and there's plenty of cringeworthy moments for a 2020 viewer to pinpoint, but there is definite merit to the film: a legitimate discussion about the type of people who get angry (explosive VS implosive - you decide which is worse); and some great Sondheim musical moments.
