A desperate Maddie comes across a Craigslist advert in which parents are asking for someone to date their 19 year-old son in exchange for a car. It’s a simple setup with fun characters and lots of laughs. Jennifer Lawrence is hilarious and Andrew Feldman is great. They’re a great duo and the friendship that develops as a result of the (very 2000s) janky setup is cute. It has heart and is so funny. Lawrence is amazing. It also has a great soundtrack. Approved!

Bill Burr and his 40-something mates struggle with the changing world around them. The main problem with the film is that the narrative is a bit drawn out. Once again, it’s a film that’s just a bit too long for its own good. However, it still has enough laughs to worth a watch. I’m glad the film exists for the excellence mixture of reviews that see it as being either too woke or too liberal.

I adored this. A ghostly curse that explores the generational trauma experienced by women at the hands of men. I loved the style, it evoked a sense of the films that drove my love of horror to develop beyond the easily accessible in the 90s - Spanish horror such as Tesis or Japanese horror such as Ringu. Its narrative approach reminded me of Juon, and was used to great effect. It sounds great as well. A fantastic score. More importantly, it was genuinely intriguing and a bit scary. Loved it.

Opus isn’t a bad film. However, this makes it all the more frustrating. The biggest pop star of all time unexpectedly announces the release of their first album in decades. Heralding its release, a group of journalists are invited to the pop stars remote compound. A budding writer, Ariel’s suspicions are aroused when they are greeted by what appears to be a cult. Unfortunately, what happens is far too derivative of recent films with a similar setup. This is a shame…
