Elmer Gantry 1960
Good movie but nowhere near as dark or as biting as the novel. I think id like it more if I hadn't read the book and been aware of how powerful the novel was. Acting and pacing are good but gantry has almost growth/redemption which is way different?
Also imagine living in a world where powerful men can be destroyed by affairs. I don't know her.

Anna may wong is gorgeous and I want her dress so so badly. Girlie was serving so much cunt it was wild. Watson barely talks tho and Holmes is also sorta just a guy. Mystery is okay (inspired and then there were none)? But not much to write home about.

Pacing is a little weird/rushed and it's not super clear how certain things happened (like how do they know the monster killed the girl?). That said did a good job capturing the tragedy of the monster esp the monsters terror in the windmill scene and his murder of the little girl. Short and focused on the central theme.
