The Lives of Others 2006
Dramatic portrayal of Stasi surveillance in East Germany directed by West German-Austrian nobleman Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. Perhaps most interesting as a study of contemporary film production as shaping collective German memory of the GDR. Watched (much belatedly) on the recommendation of my friend Denis.
