    Well, that is an odd film

    One things undeniably true: those Irish vistas are gorgeous

    Being on the spectrum, I’m delighted by “pointless small talk will make me cut off my fingers”

    I don’t exactly know why, but I found most of Gleeson/Farrell comedy excellent

    Also … what is the hidden conflict meaning?, what comment is it making about the Irish war for independence?

    I mean, I think the fictional island of the plot is probably supposed to be representative…

    Warning on one slur:

    “Hey Erica, is this yours?, I stole it from a tranny.”

    That’s what one drunk guy says to Erica who just dumped him 

    And that amongst other things is perhaps one of the most insightful and acute observation about Facebook and social in general in The Social Network: it’s roots are in misogynistic abuse, bitter macho competitive anger and violations of trust and privacy.

    The scene where Parker (Timberlake) reveals to Zuckerberg that his Napster creation…

    “ … But life is much better with a rice cooker”
    🤌🤌🤌

    It’s hard for a movie so firmly centred on women living in a women’s shelter to be fun romp … which it isn’t

    But it is very good

    I loved watching Ibrahimi every time she was on screen, Hossein is an accurate and believable abusive husband, and the dominance of the Shayda/Mona mother/daughter bond is what kept me glued

    For other excellent razor focused abusive husband/father dramas see the 2017 French movie Jusqu'à la garde (Custody)

    Amongst the many things that are awesome, King Pin is a beautiful example of the art of animation.
