Well, that is an odd film

I mean, I think the fictional island of the plot is probably supposed to be representative…

It’s hard for a movie so firmly centred on women living in a women’s shelter to be fun romp … which it isn’t
But it is very good
I loved watching Ibrahimi every time she was on screen, Hossein is an accurate and believable abusive husband, and the dominance of the Shayda/Mona mother/daughter bond is what kept me glued
For other excellent razor focused abusive husband/father dramas see the 2017 French movie Jusqu'à la garde (Custody)

Amongst the many things that are awesome, King Pin is a beautiful example of the art of animation.
This ridiculous solid black square boulder of a man, the width and shape of the front of a lorry, %80 of his mass is his torso, his head located in the middle of his chest, scenes where over 1/2 of the screen is black from his side facing…
