Didn’t do much for me thematically and script wise, yet Kieran Culkin’s performance just carried the hell out of this film, the mere feeling he transmits in a glance is astoundingly powerful.
If I tried to describe this film briefly, I would say it’s like those first 5 minutes of Up, but gone extremely harder and even more emotional.
I wasn’t very much attracted at beforehand, but once the film started, it got a steady emotional chokehold on me from the very start and it didn’t stop until the very end. It’s just a monumental achievement in animated storytelling, it is as dynamic as it is profound and complex, with so much…
In Jennifer Lawrence’s voice: they’re dead? what do you mean they’re dead?, what are they doing, whaduyu, whasdsyu mean, *completely crying and shocked* what do you mean?
Though the animation is sketchy and awkward at times, it didn’t fail to inspire in me things that only the original trilogy had, really good moments, and to my opinion, a very good story that complements the LOTR saga.
