idk chat i’m still figuring out how i feel about the ending. i think i understand what it was meant to do but i can’t say i enjoyed it or would watch it again. but not bc it wasn’t good idk it just kinda disturbed me which i guess is the whole point lmao i need to let it cook
the acting was incredible tho lots of good scenes
i can’t believe there were only 3 characters. they really delivered, especially the old woman lol she was up to no good
definitely a slow burn but still captivating. interesting exploration of grief, struggle, lust and the effect of war on humanity.
on an aesthetic level, i loved the scenes of the tall grass rustling in the wind and rain. those silent and stormy scenes were beautiful despite just being in black and white. also the score was really good. i like that there were recurring themes.
overall pretty good, its cool how classic horror can be scary beyond surface level things like suspense and gore
reviewing this late, but i wanted to christen my journal section with one of my favorite films. La Haine is perfect in every sense of the word. character development, plot, symbolism, cinematography… my favorite scene has to be at the “Le Monde est à vous” mural where Said changes the V to an N, making it Nous. MAN. because that was really their attitude. i love the swag that each character had. this film is full of iconic scenes and stills. perfectly done, in my opinion. a very meaningful and poetic commentary that will inspire the film world forever.
