    I enjoyed this movie because it explores themes of racism and power during the 1960s. The movie begins with the murder of Philip Colbert in Sparta, Mississippi. Police Chief Bill Gillespie orders his officers to search for any suspicious individuals in the area. A Black man named Virgil Tibbs is found and arrested for the murder. However, during the interrogation, Gillespie discovers that Tibbs is a detective. Tibbs decides to stay and help solve the murder to clear his name.…
